FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Karmic Fury Records, an independent label based in Wilmington, NC, would like to announce the pending release of Loud and Clear, the sophomore album by folk-rock group Folkstar. The album will appear in select record stores and download sites on August 20, 2013, with a release party to follow on October 5 at Gravity Records in Wilmington.

Folkstar, a musical collaboration formed by Kim Dicso and Sue Cag in 2011, offers a unique blend of acoustic folk and rock-infused guitar. Their first release, 2012’s Emotional Bootcamp, received broad-based acclaim from critics of independent music as well as nationwide radio play. Loud and Clear expands their sound and the scope of their songwriting. With 13 songs and three bonus tracks, the album addresses a variety of issues. “Final Curtain” and “New Eyes” explore themes of death and loss, while “It Gets Better” directly addresses teen suicide and LGBT issues. “Human” and “Abolitionists” are calls for animal rights and humanitarianism. The first single and title track deals with Cag’s experiences with hearing loss and the effect it had on her music.

A number of other regional artists make guest appearances on the album. Dylan Linehan plays piano on “Dream Thieves” and “Afterglow,” Nic Martinez adds bass to “Natural High,” and Preston Luce plays cello on “Afterglow.” Leslie Wiegle provides additional vocals throughout the album.

A release party will be held at Gravity Records in Wilmington, NC on October 5, 2013, including several live performances and a cash bar.

In addition to its retail release, the album will be available for download from iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, and all other major online retailers.
